In a delightful departure from traditional sports aesthetics, this year’s uniform transforms the players into a moving canvas of cartoon nostalgia and civic pride. The design, described as a “playful, Peanuts-Schultz-inspired” masterpiece, reimagines the city of Edmonton as a winter wonderland overrun by the very plush toys that will soon rain down onto the ice at Rogers Place.

This limited-edition jersey is not merely a uniform; it is a love letter to “YEG.” The intricate artwork features a stylized, hand-drawn depiction of the downtown skyline, anchoring the team to its community in a way that feels both heartwarming and fresh. By turning “stuffies loose on the city,” the design captures the chaotic joy of the Teddy Bear Toss, blending the innocence of childhood toys with the grit of junior hockey.

Architectural Landmarks Meets Cartoon Charm

What makes this jersey truly a collector’s item is the meticulous attention to detail in the cityscape. Fans will instantly recognize a host of Edmonton landmarks woven into the whimsical scene. The Rogers Place arena is prominently featured, standing alongside the architectural curves of the Art Gallery of Alberta and the signature arches of the Walterdale Bridge. The design even pays homage to the city’s famous Muttart Conservatory pyramids and the glistening Talus Dome (affectionately known as the Talus Balls) beside Whitemud Drive.

The creativity doesn’t stop at architecture. In a nod to a fan-favorite promotion, the jersey also hides a hot dog within the artwork, a cheeky tribute to the Oil Kings’ legendary Weiner Wednesday. The entire scene is rendered in a soft, comic-strip style reminiscent of Charles Schulz, giving the gear a vintage, approachable feel that stands in stark contrast to the aggressive, sharp lines typically seen in hockey branding.

The Brick Teddy Bear Toss: A Tradition of Giving

All of this creative flair serves a singular, noble purpose: the 18th Annual Teddy Bear Toss in support of 630 CHED Santas Anonymous. Scheduled for Sunday, December 7, 2025, when the Oil Kings host the Prince Albert Raiders, this game is arguably the most anticipated date on the Edmonton Oil Kings schedule.

The goal is simple but spectacular: when the Oil Kings score their first goal of the game, thousands of fans will hurl bagged stuffed animals onto the ice. These toys are then collected and distributed to children in need across the city, ensuring that every child has a gift to open during the holidays. The team is aiming to shatter previous records, eyeing a goal of collecting over 20,000 bears to surpass the impressive haul of 16,491 set in 2019.

More Than Just a Jersey

The 2025 Teddy Bear Toss jersey represents the heartbeat of the organization. As Kevin Radomski, the Director of Business Operations, noted, the team has been developing this unique look since March, ensuring every element—from the cartoon skyline to the hidden hot dog—resonates with the local fanbase.

Following the game, these game-worn jerseys will likely be auctioned off, with proceeds further benefiting Santas Anonymous. For fans, this is a chance to own a piece of Edmonton sports history that celebrates the city’s character and the generosity of its people. When the puck drops against Prince Albert, the Oil Kings won’t just be playing for two points in the standings; they will be playing to blanket the city in kindness, one teddy bear at a time.

Information

Size

Available in US sizes for Men, Women, and Kids.
